South Asheville NC Real Estate for Sale
South Asheville is probably the highest-growth area in all of Buncombe County. Much of the land here is relatively flat, making development more feasible than in the more mountainous parts of the Asheville area. For this reason, many of the lots for sale are easily buildable. South Asheville is loaded with amenities as well, including popular Biltmore Park, a planned development community with its own shopping district. Lake Julian Park is another popular area, complete with a playground and boat dock. And many buyers considering buying a home in South Asheville do so because of the easy proximity to the Asheville Regional Airport.
While South Asheville offers an immense variety of homes for sale, it’s also worth considering the adjoining unincorporated area of Arden, which can be hard to distinguish from South Asheville. These 2 areas can definitely feel like one combined area, yet Arden real estate benefits from lower property taxes.
Some of the most affordable housing in the Asheville area is available in South Asheville, including several townhome communities that offer well-maintained homes for a good price. At the same time, some of Asheville’s highest-end luxury communities are located here, including The Ramble Biltmore Forest. There are also many homes for sale in amenity-filled subdivisions such as Biltmore Lake and Southcliff.
The main roads north and south (into and out of Asheville) are Interstate 26, US Highway 25 (Hendersonville Road), and US Highway 25A (Sweeten Creek Road). These roads can become congested during rush hour, and I-26 can become especially busy during certain times of peak tourist season. Fortunately, there is plenty of shopping, dining, and recreation right in South Asheville.
