Once a well-kept secret, Asheville, North Carolina is now one of the most popular towns in the country. And a big reason for that is the rejuvenation of Downtown Asheville, which got underway in earnest in the 90’s. But the areas near downtown, especially near Mission Hospital and Biltmore Village, have become wildly popular areas due to their easy access to just about everything Asheville has to offer. The real estate in the Central Asheville area is also highly sought-after, and that is true for more than just downtown.
Asheville’s two largest employers are Mission Health Systems and the Biltmore Estate. Mission Health operates Mission Hospital and many outpatient centers in the area, many of which are located in the medical district in central Asheville. The Biltmore Estate has about 2,400 employees located either on the estate near Biltmore Village or in the downtown Asheville corporate offices. These large companies have created a lot of demand for real estate in the middle of town. Add in the recent boom in development on downtown Asheville’s “South Slope,” and you can see why properties are in such high-demand in this part of Asheville.
In typical Asheville fashion, central Asheville offers a huge variety of real estate. There are luxury condos, cozy bungalows, renovated four-squares, fixer-uppers, and modern homes with views. Older, established neighborhoods like Kenilworth and newer communities with views like Beaucatcher Heights provide all types of homes and lots for sale. And of course, downtown Asheville has its own unique set of properties, including an impressive array of condos and lofts within walking distance of countless shops, restaurants, pubs, and attractions.
