Part of the Haw Creek community that sits by a creek of the same name, Happy Valley in East Asheville truly is just that: a happy, welcoming suburban neighborhood that’s well-suited for everyone from couples and families with kids to empty nesters. This neighborhood is ideal for those needing to commute into the city’s center, as it’s located less than ten minutes from downtown Asheville; however, Happy Valley is still peaceful and quiet. It’s accessible from Tunnel Road, which runs through the heart of East Asheville, but it’s set back from the traffic, connected to the main road via several tree-lined, curvy streets.

Most homes were built in the 1960s and 1970s, with three to four bedrooms. Many have finished or unfinished basements, patios and fireplaces. You’ll find grocery stores like Ingles and Whole Foods, the Asheville Mall, Panera, Chipotle, and many other chain and local restaurants along Tunnel Road. The East Asheville Library is also located adjacent to Tunnel Road. Nearby schools include Haw Creek Elementary, Evergreen Community Charter School, and A.C. Reynolds Middle and High Schools.
