Platted in 2016, Olivette is one of the Asheville area’s newest communities. Olivette sits above the French Broad River in Woodfin, NC, just about 5 miles north of Asheville. The neighborhood encompasses 346 acres and includes a full-time working organic farm. Amenities include a 7-acre riverfront beach with pavilion, several miles of hiking and biking trails, community gardens, and an amphitheater along the river.
Lots in Olivette vary in size, from approximately .15 acres to as large as 2 acres. Several lots offer magnificent views of distant mountains or the French Broad River. Olivette is one of the only neighborhoods in the area that offers such beautiful views of the French Broad, the Asheville area’s largest river. However, the homesites are situated above the floodplain.
Most homes for sale in Olivette (both resale and pre-construction) are 2000-3000 square feet, so they’re just about the right size for most buyers. The homes are high end, and typically modern or contemporary craftsman in architectural style. Olivette encourages “green” construction, including the use of solar panels.
As a community, Olivette touts its “agrihood” development model, and its frontage along the French Broad River is a huge selling point. This river access provides opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, or fly fishing for smallmouth bass.
