Located in Black Mountain’s town limits, Nine South is a community of well-built duplex-style townhomes that include higher end finishes such as granite counters, wood floors, and stained trim.

Depending on current inventory, there may be two types of Nine South Townhomes for sale: units with main level garages and units with basement level garages. Homes with main level garages are located on the downhill side of Mandolin Drive, and walk-up units with basement level garages are on the uphill side of Mandolin Drive. Typically, each duplex has one townhome with a 1-bay garage and one townhome with a 2-bay garage.

These townhomes are ideal for second homes or retirement homes, as the exterior maintenance and landscaping are covered by the property owners’ association. The only road in the community, Mandolin Drive, is maintained by the Town of Black Mountain.

When Nine South townhomes are available, they typically sell quickly. One reason is there aren’t a lot of townhomes in Black Mountain that compare to this level of quality in this price range. Most other Black Mountain townhomes are either more expensive (such as those in the Village of Cheshire) or less expensive (such as those in Mountainbrook Village).

Another reason is location; being close to Cheshire Fitness Center and downtown Black Mountain is a selling point. The open floorplans used in these homes are also attractive to buyers. And when new developer inventory is on the market, buyers can choose their colors and finishes as part of the contract. For many people buying a home in Black Mountain, this is preferable to building a new home from the ground up.
