Montreat, North Carolina is a very small town (population 728) adjoining Black Mountain. Within its borders are Montreat College, Montreat Conference Center, and of course the Town of Montreat itself. The Montreat hiking trail system is open to the public and provides numerous opportunities for day hikes as well as overnight hikes to several peaks, including Graybeard Mountain and Mount Mitchell.
