Homes for Sale Swannanoa NC
Swannanoa, North Carolina is an unincorporated area right in the middle between Asheville and Black Mountain. Since it’s not technically a “township,” Swannanoa real estate is not subject to any town or city property taxes. However, many communities in Swannanoa are served by public water and sewer. Swannanoa offers a wide variety of homes and land across a huge range of prices. There are established neighborhoods like Grovemont at lower elevation with convenience to main highways, and there are upscale neighborhoods with views such as High Hickory.
Swannanoa is named for the Swannanoa River, which flows from Black Mountain into Asheville and feeds into the French Broad River. The Swannanoa Valley near Warren Wilson College is one of the most picturesque areas in Western North Carolina. There are hiking trails on the college’s land that are accessible to the public. One way to access the trails is from Charles D. Owen Park, which is also a nice amenity in Swannanoa.
Swannanoa, along with most other real estate in the eastern side of Buncombe County, generally has less vehicular traffic than other parts of the county. This is because not only does Interstate 40 run through Swannanoa, but so does US Highway 70, a four-lane highway that eases the burden on I-40. For this reason, eastern Buncombe County is a good area to consider from which to commute into Asheville.
